Off the Black (2006) .... Ray Cook

Synopsis (with spoilers):

An aging and (Terminally) ill High School Baseball Umpire Ray Cook (Nick Nolte) Calls a pitch from Dave Tibbel (Trevor Morgan) a Ball when it may have been a Strike (off the black, black edge of home plate), and causes them to lose the game and eliminates the team from playing in the State Playoffs. But Dave Tibbel (Trevor Morgan) with the absence of his fathers love and recognition fall's easy to peer pressure, and in retaliation for the umpires (So called) bad call, Dave Tibbel (Trevor Morgan) and two members of his Baseball team seek revenge by trashing the out side of Ray Cook's house with trash and toilet paper, but during there act of revenge Ray Cook awakens and catches one of the boy's (Dave Tibbel) but Instead of haveing Tibble arrested, Cook who has not spoken to his own son for some time finds an awkward way to show the young man (Tibble) responsibility for his actions and settle the debt to Cook for his involvement in the retaliation against him by asking Tibbel (Trevor Morgan) to attend his 40th High School Reunion posing as his son, Tibble (Trevor Morgan) rejects his offer at first finding it a strange request but later agree's to attend the reunion, and with that Tibbles (Trevor Morgan) debt owed to Cook (Nick Nolte) is erased, but what transpires is an unusual bond for each other, and as they both try there best to confront there own personal demons, a relationship worthy of father and son becomes obvious of which they are both seeking to have in there own lives.
